Torn Ear Lobes
Heavy earrings worn for long-term can lead to stretching of the holes and sometimes complete tears of the earlobe. Torn ear lobes can be easily repaired under local anesthesia and the ears can be pierced again after 3-6 months.
Heavy earrings worn for long-term can lead to stretching of the holes and sometimes complete tears of the earlobe. Torn ear lobes can be easily repaired under local anesthesia and the ears can be pierced again after 3-6 months. The edges of the enlarged hole or slit ear lobe are freshened and internally sutures are placed to reconstruct the substance of the lobe. Removable and dissolvable sutures are then placed externally on the skin to create the best scar possible. The procedure takes <20 min and offers a quick relatively painless recovery. This procedure is often not covered by insurance but a pre-determination can be conducted.
