A hemangioma is a benign vascular tumor that may be present at birth or appear shortly after birth.

During embryogenesis when the blood vessels are forming in the fetus, arteries and veins are formed first and then the capillaries (which are supposed to deliver the blood to the tissue) are formed second.

Venous Vascular Malformations are the most common type of vascular anomaly (vascular malformation) and are composed of abnormal formations of veins.

Capillary Malformations (CMs) are abnormal growth of capillaries, the blood vessels that deliver blood to tissues by receiving blood from arteries and draining into veins. 

Lymphatic Malformations (LM) are rare abnormalities of the lymphatic system, resulting in cyst-like masses, or fluid filled sacs.
