Will I Have Any Scars After FFS?
Most patients who receive Facial Feminization Surgery experience very minimal scarring, most of which will likely be hidden. Approximately 2 to 6 weeks following an FFS procedure, a significant amount of healing begins to take place. This includes the bones and tissue, but it also is the timeframe when any scarring begins to turn red or raised. However, the scarring will eventually begin to flatten and become less apparent. Rest and proper aftercare are very important elements that promote proper healing and recovery, including with the appearance of any scarring.

The post-operation recovery period after FFS procedures is typically 2 to 6 weeks. It typically takes approximately 1 year for patients to fully recover from FFS procedures. However, during this year, patients are able to work, maintain social commitments, and continue living their lives.
Facial feminization surgery can take place over multiple phases or in a single phase. Typically in a multi-phase approach, the upper face procedures and lower face procedures are broken up into two different surgical procedures on different takes. This type of approach, therefore, requires a longer recovery period overall compared to a single-phase approach.
